Were you injured in the line of duty as a police officer?

Image
“To protect and serve.” Police Officers are a different breed; we are “Type A” personalities that rarely ask for help as it could show others that we are weak. We are always told by our peers to “suck it up” if we get hurt at work. But sometimes the injury is so painful, that you have to report it. Dealing with a Workers Comp Insurance company is a total nightmare! Insurance Companies like to cut corners and save money where they can. Even though I am being “treated” for my injury and its slowly getting resolved; you need to understand that Insurance Companies are slow for a reason and that reason is to save money. I’ve heard a lot of Workers Comp horror stories over the years and I know things could have been a lot worse. This is not the full series of events because that would be too long to write. I am sharing parts of my story with you so you don’t make the same mistakes I did. I was out of work due to a knee injury that occurred on duty as a Police Officer. I’m not going to...

Emergency Heater

Image
This is an easy heater you can make very quickly and easily in the event of an emergency. All you need is: Bottle of Rubbing Alcohol (70%) Roll of Toilet Paper Metal container (empty coffee can, empty soup can, etc) Step one: Remove the cardboard from the roll of toilet paper. Step two: Place the roll of toilet paper in the metal container, force it in there to make it as tight as possible. Step three: Saturate the toilet paper with rubbing alcohol. (You will use most of the bottle) Step four: Light the heater and enjoy its warmth. In the video I placed the heater inside a portable grill so the heat could be captured and radiate thru the metal grill. This also serves a second level of protection from a accidental spill/fire.

Solar Panel Upgrades

Image
Hey guys, for some time I've been wanting to upgrade my solar panel setup at my house. I currently had a 45 watt Harbor Freight kit that was charging two 6 volt golf cart batteries. In all honesty, the Harbor Freight kit did its job and kept the batteries charged for whenever I needed them; but the time it took to fully recharge the batteries took several hours and wouldn't benefit me if the disaster was long term. The best way to describe my thought process was that I have $1.00 in my pocket(My battery bank), and I give .10 cents away everyday(Using Power from battery bank), but I'm only putting .03 cents back in my pocket(Charging the batteries with solar).... During a long term disaster with alot of power usage, I'd eventually go "broke". With funds being limited, I went on ebay and purchased two 70 Watt Monocrystaline Solar panels for $129.00 each with free shipping. I got them from http://stores.ebay.com/sunsolarusa This company has a two thumbs UP recomm...
